General Questions
Q:
What is 'Notre Dame de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples'?
A: 'Notre Dame de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples' is a comprehensive
sampling library on DVD discs, containing pipe organ sound samples, which you can play with a computer. (NDB is the abbreviation of Notre Dame
de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples.)
Q:
Does it have any connection with the cathedral 'Notre
Dame' at Paris?
A: No. 'Notre Dame' simply means 'Our Lady'. Our product
got its name from two cathedrals in Budapest, which both have 'Our Lady'
in their name.
Q: I don't need all the stops (because I play only French-romantic music/I need
only a few combinations for my film score). Is there an option?
A: If you don't need the Full Edition of NDB Pipe Organ Samples, we also
offer you a Compact Edition with fewer stops and combinations featuring foundational organ sounds.
Q:
Where can I find more information on the churches,
and the organs?
A: Check out the User's Manual and the Links.
Update related questions
Q: Do I need the Service Pack 1 update of NDB?
A: If your copy was purchased prior January 2005, you probably need the SP1 update. You can download it after you registered your copy. To find out if you already have the SP1 version, please check the following: if you have NDB for GigaStudio 2, try to load NDB_PED - Fonds 16'.gig. If it fails, you will need to apply the update. If you have NDB for GigaStudio 3, check if the f1 note and f2 note of NDB_PED Subbass 16'.gig playing together sounds correctly or if it is mistuned. If it is mistuned, you will need the update.

Q: Can I make a copy of NDB Pipe Organ Samples?
A: We recommend you to copy the contents of the DVD disc to your hard drive for better performance, but you have to consider some rules.
- You can copy the contents of the DVD to your hard drive, but only to one computer at a time, on which you are using the NDB.
- You are not allowed to store the contents of the DVD on more than one computer at a time.
- You not allowed to copy the contents to a computer, which is not yours.
-
You are allowed to make one copy of the original DVD to another DVD for backup purposes, but the backup disc should never be used (accessed) until the original is operational.
Q:
I have made a recording with NDB Pipe Organ Samples,
how should I credit NDB, what should I write to the disc/titles?
A: As NDB Pipe Organ Sampels sounds very authentic, so
it is important not to abuse the listeners, not to create fake recordings.
For this, you have to consider what the License Agreement of NDB Pipe
Organ Samples contain. A sketchy explanation of the main points are:
- Whatever
you create for commercial purposes, you have to add the following
sentence to your product (e.g. disc, etc.) as proveided
here: "The organ sound was electronically made with Notre Dame
de Budapest Pipe Organ Samples".
Note: Screen credit for movie, film and television use is not required. We would be very happy, however, if you could let us know that you used NDB in your project - but this is not obligatory, of course.
- You
are not allowed to add any other information, which disagrees from
this sentence. (such sentences like "Recorded at ..." or
"Organ Sound of XY church", etc.) You are not allowed to
use the name of the churches or the organs, the place of the churches
or the organs, or the manufacturer of the organ, or indications to
these informations in your product, as these are protected by several
laws (copyright, trademarks, and other laws).
Note: this applies for movie, film and television use, too.
- You
are not allowed to reproduce any information, image, sound, or text
from the documentation as these are protected by several laws (copyright,
trademark, etc.).
Q: Can I extract and/or convert the samples from the files provided?
A: No; you are allowed to use the samples only in the provided format. You should not extract, edit, modify, reproduce, copy, upload or download from or to a database the single wave files. You should not modify the files provided either. However you may convert the sample sets for yourself to a desired format with our written permission. For this, please contact us.
Q: Can I sell the used discs to someone else when I do not wish to use NDB anymore?
A: No, you are only allowed to destroy the discs if you do not wish to use them anymore. You are a licensed user of the sounds, which means you do not own the discs or its contents, but you do own the rights to use them. This right is not transferrable, however.
Q: I have more questions, how can I contact you?
A: Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions. You can contact us by e-mail most easily, but you can also write us and call us if you wish (we are in the Central European time zone).
You can
find the full License Agreement at the main support site.
